Welcome to the StarPU+SimGrid Study

This webpage provides access to the laboratory notebook that we used when working on the integration between StarPU and SimGrid. It contains all the experiments we conducted within this case study and is intended to provide curious researchers a possible approach for managing a laboratory notebook.

We decided to open this laboratory notebook to illustrate the Git + Org-mode workflow we developed during these experiments and which is described in this document. We initially did not envision to do this and the first journal entries are not always very informative although all the data was kept. The last entries are however more representative of what we aim at. Here is a typical and recent experiment report, which is a subset of the whole laboratory notebook.

StarPU+SimGrid is used to predict performance of task-based applications running on top of StarPU. It is already put in place for nightly tests of morse/chameleon application. Thanks to the Spack tool, StarPU+SimGrid is now easy to install and use, as shown in this tutorial (parts related to the simulation).
